How has the prominence and cultural impact of ‘Pizza Hut’ and ‘Chipotle’ evolved over the past three decades in the United States? In recent history, Chipotle has boomed with business and popularity, with everyone here at the Mount always talking about getting Chipotle at some point. Compared to Pizza Hut which used to be a very popular food chain but now is phasing out with the other rising pizza chains like Domino’s continues to grow. The way I found this out is by doing some basic googling and using a website called COCO which gave me the frequency of the names ‘Pizza Hut’ and ‘Chipotle’. With the current trends right now people would rather use online ordering and quick and easy pick up so with that in mind Chipotle can thrive with it being mainly a quick and easy way to get decently healthy foods, while Pizza Hut was mainly a sit-down place for pizza and other items and as far as I know, some Pizza Huts’ don’t deliver which makes it even more difficult to compete with other chains.
Pizza Hut was very popular in the 90s itself but quickly dropped down in frequency in the early 2000s’ towards the end of the 2000s’ it started to increase for a few years but then again started to decrease in frequency as you can see in the graph below.
Chipotle in 1993 was first opened so in the 90’s they were not very popular but in the early 2000s they spiked in popularity and have recently started to level out with the frequency of use. You can see below
